Looking for travel tips and inspiration for your next adventure to India? Or simply want a fun, travel-themed read? Here’s an excerpt from my travel journal about visiting Goa, India!
Day 1 of Visiting Goa, India
There were no flights straight from Jaipur to Goa, so we had to stop in Mumbai and thus didn’t get to Goa until the evening. We did have a chance to drop by a nearby beach after dinner, though, and it was nice. The water was surprisingly warm for the time of day, and the sand was a gorgeous shade of white.
Day 2 of Visiting Goa, India
We spent the day at North Goa, and visited a fort during the morning, although it wasn’t nearly as impressive as other forts that we’d seen in India. Then we had lunch and spent the afternoon at a beach in North Goa, which was extremely crowded and touristy.
Day 3 of Visiting Goa, India
We spent our second full day exploring South Goa, starting with two temples.
Then we had a tour at the Spice Plantation, which was both educational and beautiful. We followed wandering paths through a jungle-like forest and learned about where varies spices, fruits, nuts, and other foods come from.
During our tour, we watched a man demonstrate how they climb the trees to pick vanilla beans. My friend Jeremy wanted to try, so he did (kind of). He got a few feet up the tree though, which was pretty impressive.
Then we had a buffet lunch at the plantation, before heading to a beach. The beach was SO much better than yesterday, with relatively few people. I swam in the water for a little while, lay in the sun, ran 7.5 miles, and collected a bunch of shells. I definitely prefer the beaches in South Goa over the northern ones! It was very relaxing and a much-needed rest from the hustle and bustle of Jaipur.
Day 4 of Visiting Goa, India
We flew from Goa to Mumbai, but at the Mumbai airport we found out that our flight from Mumbai to Jaipur had been moved to the next day without our knowing. So, we had to switch airlines and had an 8-hour layover. It was a little annoying considering that I had to teach the next day and would be getting home let, but the airport was amazing to explore. It was huge, recently renovated, and quite modern. Not to mention, it had over 226,000 square feet of retail space!
